“It’s All About the Love”!
Lisa Schroeder is the Executive chef & owner of Mother’s Bistro & Bar in downtown Portland, Oregon who lives to serve! She finds fulfillment sharing love and compassion, which attract the attention of her community and celebrities worldwide.
With the pandemic shutting down in-person dining, Lisa had to make the decision to close Mother’s Bistro until the opportunity provide sustenance to her patrons in a safe manner. No stranger to overcoming adversity, Lisa rolls with the punches like a prize fighter.
She is a mother, grandmother, chef, restaurateur and author devoted to providing better-than-authentic renditions of traditional home-cooked dishes at her popular, award-winning restaurant.
In 1992, while juggling a marketing and catering career and raising her daughter, Schroeder realized there was no place that served the kind of food she would make if she had the time. She concluded what the world needed was a place which served “Mother Food” – slow-cooked dishes, such as braises and stews, made with love. From that moment on, Lisa was determined to open such a restaurant and spent the next eight years working toward that dream.
In 2000, Chef Schroeder’s dream came true when she opened Mother’s Bistro & Bar in downtown Portland to rave reviews, receiving the “Restaurant of the Year” award from Willamette Week. In 2009, Schroeder released her critically acclaimed cookbook, Mother’s Best, and appeared on the Today Show, QVC and more. She is the recipient of the Portland Business Journal’s Businesswoman of the Year award, IACP Chef/Restaurateur Award of Excellence, National Restaurateur of the Year from Independent Restaurateur Magazine and the Woman of Achievement Award from the Oregon Commission for Women. Chef Schroeder nurtures her community as well as her guests. She participates in numerous charities and causes including Share Our Strength, Basic Rights Oregon, Americans for Gun Sense, Our House, the Raphael House and the Bradley Angle House.

Are you interested in feeling better? Thinking better? Acting better? Briana Borten has a way of helping in each of these areas.
Briana is a leader & teacher in a new category of spirituality, one that focuses on how our connection to our souls, each other, and the earth is the solution. She sees, understands, and can tap into the web of the universe – the unseen energetic field through which we (our human souls, our bodies, and everything on the earth) are all connected. Her observation: that “humans have lost our awareness of that connection and thus, our place in that web.”
“I believe if we can reconnect with that intelligence, the problems in our individual lives, as well as our problems as a species (politically, globally, and environmentally) can be solved.
I can help you take your seat in that web – the seat that was made just for you upon your very incarnation on the earth – and through that clicking into your place and role in the web of the universe, also guide you toward healing your personal energetic field of the blocks and crud that saps your energy, your attention, and your potential.
I believe that these two steps – taking your seat in the web of the universe, and healing your field – are the keys to the next step in human evolution, ushering in a future peace and freedom for all.
Everything I do is inspired by my purpose: to create more peace in the world by seeding it with more peaceful people.”

Marina V is an award-winning Russian-American recording pop artist, singer/pianist/songwriter with a “hauntingly beautiful” voice (LA TIMES) and “melodic and passionate” music (The Washington Post). A self-described “musical lovechild of The Beatles, Tori Amos and Tchaikovsky”, Marina grew up in Moscow and has been singing and writing songs since a very young age.
Raised by a nuclear physicist father & a psychologist mother during the difficult times of the Soviet Union collapse, Marina attended a school of music every evening after regular school.
We cover her diligence and undying effort to pursue her passions by moving to America, her initial phases of crowdfunding that started in the 90s, production of 12 albums, and even her collaboration with KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick. This is a fun one – you’ll love getting to hear a performance!

Having been a creative foundation in the Portland area music scene, Tony has explored his art and inspiration that drove that passion. In that exploration, he discovered the need to explore and better himself through Marsha Linehan’s DBT Methods.
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a type of cognitive-behavioral therapy, focused on teaching people how to live in the moment, develop healthy ways to cope with stress, regulate their emotions, and improve their relationships with others.
We’ll discuss our similarities in that quest, and how applying those methods have helped our progress. Perhaps you can relate?

Of course, you know Jennifer Batten from her tenure with Michael Jackson and Jeff Beck, but she’s got a remarkable solo career that I was fortunate enough to be a tiny part of for a minute. Now she’s passing on her knowledge with the help of a group of top-notch guitarists with her Guitar Cloud Symposium (www.guitarcloudsymposium.com), which will have a special appearance by Steve Vai! We’ll discuss those details, reflect on Eddie Van Halen’s inspiration, and whatever crazy fun stories she has, because she has them all.
