Belouis Some is a British singer, songwriter and musician. He had UK and worldwide hits in the 80s with “Some People”, “Imagination” and “Round, Round”, the hit song from the John Hughes film Pretty in Pink. Singles “Animal Magic” and “Let It Be With You” were both US Top 10 Dance and Radio Hits in 1987.

Belouis Some has released three albums (so far!)…”Some People” in 1985, “Belouis Some” 1987 and “Living Your Life” 1993.

I had the pleasure to have toured alongside Neville (aka Belouis Some) in the phenomenal Lost 80s Live Tour this summer, and had a blast getting to know more about this remarkable human!

Liverpool originals China Crisis have always made music that’s far easier to love than to define. For more than four decades now Gary Daly and Eddie Lundon, collectively better known as China Crisis, have been writing and performing some of the most distinctive, catchy and sophisticated pop songs out there, from “Wishful Thinking”, “Black Man Ray”, and “King in a Catholic Style” to “Christian”, “Arizona Sky” and “Down Here on Earth”. The band originally emerged in 1981 from their native Kirkby as the songwriting duo of vocalist/keyboardist Daly and guitarist/vocalist Lundon, who have been working together ever since.

Citing influences as varied as Brian Eno, Davie Bowie, Stevie Wonder, Eric Satie and Talking Heads, it’s not surprising that their sound was quickly distinguishable amongst their peers, combining synthpop with reggae, country and other styles with their own unique melodies and harmonies to create distinctively sophisticated but catchy pop in a style all its own. Their 2024 release China Greatness (featuring elevated, cinematic new arrangements of the songwriters’ own favourite tracks from across their catalogue, and mixed by multiple-Grammy award winner Mark Phythian) peaked in the album charts at record-setting levels for the band, and their recent tours around the globe have served to both build the loyalty of existing fans and entice new legions ardent new followers in the process. Truly beloved for their live performances which combine their engaging music with a healthy dose of Scouse humor, and with the clear kinship the band have with their fans, audiences always leave China Crisis shows the all the happier for having been part of the moment.

From the first Lost 80s Live concert that we shared performances to last year’s 80s Cruise and The Sands experiences in Cancun, Jade has shown resilience, poise and stunning professionalism. While some might consider her to represent the 80s in her music, I see her crossing over into widespread dance markets worldwide.

Pretty Poison’s “Catch Me (I’m Falling)” has sold over a million records and was certified gold during it’s initial release in the 80s, and 30 years later, it has made a major comeback. Lead singer Jade Starling has enjoyed a successful solo career, charting on the Billboard charts nine times. Three songs have topped the Dance/Club charts with two crossing over to both the Pop and R&B charts. Jade joins All Access Live to introduce and discuss her dance single cover of Seal’s iconic hit “Crazy”.

To learn more about Jade Starling and her music, check out her official website and her Facebook page.

From the first notes of “The Promise”, you know these talented stars from their debut of When in Rome in the 80s. They restored their megastardom when The Promise was featured prominently in the comedy movie Napoleon Dynamite.

Fast forward years later, Clive Farrington and Andrew Mann have become like family to me. We’ve toured the world on package shows together, and folks who know them must agree that their personality and humor match their talented vocals. I’m looking forward to taking you with me to meet them “backstage” on All Access Live!

JP’s the man behind the drum kit for SO MANY bands, it’d take up a whole hour listing them all. As the beat-keeper for 80s pop chart-toppers “Naked Eyes”, Jon and I have done many a gig together. You’ll get to be a fly on the wall when we take you “backstage” for a fun and uplifting hang to wrap up your Labor Day weekend!

40 years ago this week, in mid August 1980, The Vapors toured outside the UK for their first foray into worldwide stardom, spurred by the success of the hit single “Turning Japanese”. We’ve gotten to do a bit of touring together as well, and have shared incredible experiences along the way. We’ll share those stories and more, as we go “backstage” on ALL ACCESS LIVE!
