PAUL GILBERT JOINS ALL ACCESS LIVE with KEVIN RANKIN

This is a conversation guitar players are NOT going to want to miss!

I had the incredible opportunity to sit down with legendary guitarist Paul Gilbert for ALL ACCESS LIVE, recorded at Five Star Guitars in Beaverton, Oregon, alongside my co-host and Five Star Guitars owner Geoff Metts.

Paul Gilbert is one of the most influential and technically accomplished guitarists of his generation, with a career that has taken him from the groundbreaking metal band Racer X to international success with Mr. Big and an extraordinary solo career spanning more than a dozen albums.

From the blistering guitar work of Racer X to Mr. Big classics like “To Be With You,” “Green-Tinted Sixties Mind” and “Daddy, Brother, Lover, Little Boy,” Paul has helped define the vocabulary of modern rock guitar.

And his solo work has taken that musicianship in countless directions, from instrumental guitar-driven records to his acclaimed albums The Dio Album, Behold Electric Guitar, Werewolves of Portland and beyond.

In this special ALL ACCESS LIVE conversation, Paul, Geoff and I dig into:

• The early days of Racer X and the explosion of the shred-guitar movement
• His years with Mr. Big and the band’s international success
• The legendary guitar techniques and practice routines that made Paul a household name among guitarists
• His approach to songwriting, improvisation and developing a distinctive guitar voice
• The evolution of his sound, gear and playing style
• His extensive solo career and latest musical projects
• The influence of classic rock, metal and blues on his playing
• What keeps him pushing the guitar forward after decades at the top of his craft
• And plenty of great stories from an extraordinary career

Recorded at Five Star Guitars in Beaverton, Oregon, with co-host Geoff Metts, this episode is a deep dive into the mind, music and machinery behind one of rock’s most celebrated guitarists.
