From 1994-2003, Eklund was the drummer for Grammy-nominated and multi-platinum selling Capitol Records recording artists Everclear. He played on the band’s most successful albums, including Sparkle and Fade and So Much for the Afterglow, including their MTV and radio hits Santa Monica, Father of Mine, Everything to Everyone, Wonderful, and AM Radio.

After leaving Everclear in 2003, emotionally and physically exhausted and burnt out from playing drums, Eklund suffered from public anxiety after being in the public eye. He went into therapy for panic attacks and his inability to leave his house. While at home, Eklund says, “I was tired of playing drums. I wanted to try something new, and I wanted a new challenge, so I picked up a guitar. I taught myself to play in a straightforward style and started to write songs.”

With his younger brother Mark Eklund and Olivia Stone, Greg formed The Oohlas in 2004 and released their debut record Best Stop Pop on Stolen Transmission Records (an imprint on Island/Def Jam Records) in 2005. When the music industry imploded in 2008, The Oohlas left their label and went on an indefinite hiatus.

Greg released his solo debut album entitled “Muffled Tears,” on August 1st on all digital platforms (iTunes, Spotify etc) with limited edition clear vinyl available at gregeklund.bandcamp.com.

Zia McCabe is a keyboard player, percussionist and bass guitarist, and member of American alternative rock band The Dandy Warhols. She is also a solo DJ (DJ Rescue), and part of a six-piece country music band called Brush Prairie. She graduated from Battle Ground High School in Battle Ground, Washington in 1993. In 1995, with hardly any prior musical experience, Zia joined The Dandy Warhols.

Fast-forward to today, her tenure with the Dandys has been sprinkled with advocacy (last time I saw Zia, she was leading Bernie Sanders onstage at Portland’s Moda Center for the 2016 Presidential Campaign), a burgeoning real estate career, multiple original projects & raising chickens!

Ramble On is Portland, Oregon’s most popular Led Zeppelin tribute.

Lead singer Rich Ray nailed the high tenor vocals made famous by Robert Plant, with all the power and soul one would expect from seeing Led Zeppelin their prime.

Virtuoso axe man Steve Adams plays the part of Jimmy Page to perfection..complete with the double-neck guitars, violin bows, and ripping solos.

Chael Emmett was heroic on bass and keys, a la John Paul Jones, while drummer Merrill Hale anchored the rhythm section with master chops and an authentic set of Ludwig Vistalites to boot.

As one of the most remarkable bands honoring perhaps the greatest rock & roll band on the planet, Ramble On have done just that (rambled on), but we are going to catch up with the guys on their current situations, funny stories from those days of tribute, and other shenanigans. Come join us!

Rock journalist and local icon SP Clarke and I rap about the rich musical history of the Pacific Northwest, LONG before Portlandia brought snickers from afar about the beloved Rose City. We dig deep looking at La Bamba Club, Starry Night, Satyricon, X-Ray Cafe and other venues, as well as a look at the influences of artists like Billy Rancher and The Kingsmen.

Wow, folks… this got as deep and powerful as you can get. Danny shared his heart and spirit as he disclosed the challenges of being homeless, struggling to maintain sanity, and redemption through tenacity and fortitude. Watch ’til the end. It’s important.

Danny’s given title is “Student of Life Majoring in Gratitude”, which exemplifies his journey perfectly. One of the most inspiring drummers to grace the rock n’roll scene in the Pacific NW, Danny Carbo first entered my radar while touring with Jerry Joseph and Little Women. I was a teenager, sneaking into clubs and happened upon Danny’s beastly playing in Bozeman, MT, and I saw him take a folk-rock Americana band to a monstrous level.

We’ve shared bands together, lots of laughs, and PLENTY of tears. We welcome you to join in those reflections on All Access Live.

The Pacific Northwest knows all about one of the industry’s best-kept secrets in Dirk Sullivan. He’s the quiet rock star who was destined for global domination from the late 80s to the mid-90s, with his band “Love on Ice”.

Love on Ice achieved some notoriety from their appearance on Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey soundtrack, and internationally from their European, Canadian and US tour dates before falling prey to the same outcome as many of the other remarkable bands of the era.

Dirk is currently recording a record with Andrew Paul Woodworth, recording with Gregg Williams and states that “Music has taken on a new life for me over the last couple years and especially during the pandemic. I’ve been very inspired and am writing some of the best most original music of my life.”

Most fans of 80s music will recognize the unforgettable first 3 notes of the mega hit “I Can’t Wait”… the snappy bass line made legendary by my pal Gary Fountaine. The moment those notes are played, the room starts moving, no matter how large or small the venue.

Nu Shooz was Nominated for a Grammy in 1986 for Best New Artist. Gary recorded “Poolside” with Nu Shooz featuring the hit song “I Can’t Wait” for Atlantic Records, and received Gold Record status in 1987, embarking on an international 77 city tour, while making TV appearances on American Bandstand, Solid Gold, AM L.A., AM Northwest, Nick Rocks, and MTV.

We’ll chat Nu Shooz, session recording, the art of blending in for any type of gig, and doing it all with a smile on your face.
